Introducing Kindrêd Meditation

What is Kindrêd?

While most people today are familiar with the practice of meditation, and a significant amount of people are familiar with movement meditation, little know about an exciting new form of it; Kindrêd Meditation.

The new kid on the meditation scene, Kindrêd is a modern form of movement meditation focused on the art of human connection. Powered by mirror neurons (brain cells that react both when a particular action is performed and when it is only observed and is considered to be the explanation for empathy), Kindrêd helps people learn how to regulate their emotions and access heightened states of consciousness in an easy and time-effective way.

Currently being studied by neuroscientists in 4 different countries, Kindrêd’s reported benefits are strengthening emotion regulation skills, alleviating loneliness, providing access to altered states of consciousness, increasing creativity, improving emotional intelligence, helping with self-love and self-expression, heightening a sense of connection and providing all the benefits of meditation for those who are looking for alternative’s options. Kindrêd also targets all aspects of the human condition; it targets the spiritual aspect by making us feel aligned with our higher self, targets our mind by making us feel mentally focused, targets our emotional body by making us feel emotionally connected to one another, and influences our physical body and making us feel physically energized.

How Does Kindrêd Work?

Although Kindrêd is difficult to describe without experiencing it, it essentially consists of two or more meditators using intuitive movement to generate and express specific emotions. For example, a facilitator may instruct the meditators to move in a way that expresses the feeling of joy (or love, courage, hope etc.). These movements are then mirrored by their partner and/or the group which creates a circle of empathy that enables the participants to access heightened states of human connection and consciousness.

Kindrêd vs. Traditional Meditation

While traditional, seated, solo meditation is always beneficial – it is not ideal for everybody. Kindrêd is an accessible form of meditation that many prefer for the following reasons:

  • It can be easier than traditional meditation as it uses the biological interest we have in other humans as the door to enter a meditative state.

  • It is simple. Kindrêd can be learned in only 10-minutes and children can participate as well.

  • It is usually practiced with a community. One of our basic needs as humans is a sense of connection with others, and Kindrêd provides a space to forge a deep connection with our fellow humans.

  • Allows us to meditate with our entire bodies, not just our minds - allowing for a deeper practice.

  • It is fun! Usually accompanied by lots of smiling and laughing, Kindrêd provides a nice break from the seriousness of everyday life.
